Pledge of Allegiance – Explained

The below link gives a video of Red Skelton, the entertainer/comedian famous for his radio and TV shows from1937-1971. Red explains the words to the Pledge of Allegiance. This is from The Red Skelton Show on CBS January 14, 1969.

Red tells us that one of his teachers in school explained the Pledge of Allegiance this way so the school kids would not say the Pledge monotonously and would understand its meaning.

This video is fantastic! I believe we can all learn something from this short video.

Over forty-five states have law or policy requiring schools to schedule a daily or regular recitation of the Pledge. In every state, students in public schools have a constitutional right not to say the Pledge or salute the flag, based on a 1943 Supreme Court decision.
